All over the UK groups of people are discovering the delights of growing their own food. The Grow Zones project from EarthAbbey is a resource to help you get organised in your community. You can read more about it here.
Would you be interested in starting a group in your area? You don’t need to have any gardening experience (although some within your group helps), all you need is to be good at organising and encouraging people. If you can gather a group of people together, we’ll provide the help and resources to get you growing for your first season.

The Grow Zones kit, comprising materials for the participants and special resources for the facilitator, is designed to make your life as facilitator easy.
• It simplifies the administrative stages, even for large groups and enables new growers to survey and design their gardens without any extra help.
• It also introduces permaculture principles which enables gardeners to take a sustainable and low maintenance approach to their growing.
• And, most importantly, joining Grow Zones gives your team insurance cover and ongoing support.
As an extra level of support we have arranged some training days for facilitators. You can facilitate Grow Zones with only the materials provided in the kit but if you’re new to growing, facilitation, reflective practice or permaculture you may appreciate the training which covers all of those subjects and gives you the opportunity to develop practical experience and confidence.
