Exploring the Permaculture principal of Multiple Functions.

1) Food one: just the plain old nut.
2) Food two: ingredient in stuffing.
3) Use the shells as decorations.
4) Use the shells, stuffed with fat and seeds as a bird feeder.

Could you make a sort of nut butter, like peanut butter?

Yes! Grinding them on their own will produce nut butter…I’ve had good results using a food processor to make pumkin seed butter this way - don’t give up when it looks as if you just have finely chopped bits, it takes a while for the oils to be released to make the butter texture.

use them as part of home made fruit and nut bars…  Im thinking oats, honey, raisins… yum
